Review of Mister Roberts (1955) by Daniel P — 04 Jun 2008
The lighter side of the U.S. navy in World War II. This is probably closer to a lot of veterans' experience than is Saving Private Ryan - endless boredom waiting for something to happen. Kind of like a comedic version of The Caine Mutiny (I'm not sure which came first).
Jack Lemmon is hilarious in his breakthrough (and first Oscar-winning) role.
