Review of Mission: Impossible III (2006) by No N — 17 May 2012
I remember seeing this movie when I was in 7th grade. I remember thinking it sucked the big fat one. But that was because I really didn't understand the movie's point. Now I rewatched it and I thought it wasn't all that bad. In fact I really enjoyed the hell out of it. This time around, Ethan Hunt is trying to track down a sadistc arms dealer who wants ahold of a certain object code named 'rabbit's foot'. The film makers really put a nice one together here; props to J.J. Abrahms. While at times this movie feels very exciting, its low points come when it talks about Ethan Hunt's wife. I felt that it was highly unnecessary to throw that into the mix, even though it gave this trilogy a little twist. But Ultimately that's what dropped the move down from being as good as the first one. Its superior to the its lackluster predecessor, and it really makes you appreciate the franchise once more. But its not spectacular. The movie's ending is kind of weak, there is a lot of build up, but the ending isn't weak enough to kill my overral view of the movie. You just expect a better resolution, with such excitement. Hoffman stands out the most in this movie and his death is pretty hilarious yet brutal. by the end of the movie, you'll be satisfied, but there are better Mission Impossibles out there...Namely Ghost Protocol and the original.
B+.
