Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Bryan G — 24 Dec 2011
Spectacular open...then downhill from there. I knew there had to be a reason I only remembered rock climbing and motorcycle riding. Looooong, booooooring, and silly. Script was retooled, production was delayed months (costing Scott and Newton leading roles in other flicks) and it shows.
I don't think John Woo can edit a scene without slo-mo. Ooooh, artsy. Rhames and Newton are wasted, "plot" is overly simplistic (to compensate for criticism of part one?), action scenes are few and far between and the final one is quite lame.
