Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Christopher S — 17 Nov 2013
Great action sequences and fight sequences, but the acting is substandard throughout the film. I was hugely disappointed with this film overall. It did not have the suspense that the first film did and the writing was not as sharp either.
I expected John Woo to do as well (if not better) than Brian De Palma but I was wrong. Dougray Scott was miscast as Sean Ambrose. I also did not like the direction given to Thandie Newton's Nyah Hall.
Also the plot, while decent, is predictable throughout the film. Only the cat-and-mouse game between Ambrose and Hunt (the chemistry between the two was very good) and the aforementioned action sequences save this film from total disaster.
