Review of Mission: Impossible II (2000) by Kendall C — 25 May 2014
I enjoyed the action sequences, they really boasted some really high quality skills, but wasn't this supposed to be a Mission Impossible movie? The whole appeal of the MI movies is the idea that their mission IS impossible; the appeal is that with all the impossble high tech equipment they have is supposed to make us go 'ooooh' and 'ahhh' but MI2 feels like a recylced John Woo movie rather than a beautiful, high class Mission Impossible movie.
Ethan Hunt does a lot of shit that's out of character, like doing rolls, mid air kicks onto guards, like he's some trained fighter. Its not a complete fail of a movie, its just a disappointment.
I love the late 90's-early 2000's atmosphere, but this is just no Mission Impossible movie. Its Ethan Hunt and his team trapped in a John Woo story.
