Review of Mission Impossible (1971) by Dean M — 25 Nov 2011
More Bond than Bourne, it took me three viewings to to fully understand the plot, but that's the only real drawback of this spy thriller.
High in espionage and low in action which pretty much all occurs in the last twenty minutes, this movie is a must see just for the iconic nail biting computer hacking scene.
The cast as a whole is exceptional although Tom Cruise shows little depth in playing Ethan Hunt, but warms into the role in later movies.
The music really hits the spot and just like any James Bond movie, the traditional MI theme kicks in at just the right moment.
Be warned that concentration is a must as you will spend most of the movie trying to work out what happened in the last scene.
Overall a solid start to a great franchise.
