Review of Mission Impossible (1971) by Robert B — 25 Dec 2011
This is a great Tom Cruise film with an abundance of action and some thrilling scenes. It's a rather enjoyable spy/thriller film with plenty of gadgets and an interesting story, even if at times the plot can appear a bit too complex and drawn out at times.
The diverse locations shown in Mission: Impossible and the characters themselves are very interesting to watch. One of the most memorable scenes is the break-in at the CIA's headquarters in Langley, where Ethan Hunt steals files from a security computer after descending from the ceiling - this is probably one of Mission: Impossible's iconic scenes and certainly an "edge-of-your-seat" moment.
The characters in this film are well cast, Tom Cruise is perfect for his role as the on-the-run agent out to clear his name. Vanessa Redgrave's appearance as Max is also memorable, as is Jon Voight's performance as Jim Phelps.
There are plenty of twists and turns in this film and the final chase scene is definitely a thrilling moment and concludes the story well. Mission: Impossible is an enjoyable film with an exceptional musical score that's become synonymous with the M:I series.
