Review of Mission Impossible (1971) by Paul J — 14 Feb 2012
A definite highlight of this entertaining spy film is the white room/suspension sequence - all done in absolute silence. A very memorable sequence. DePalma directs with confidence and you've got a triple dose of great screenwriters.
Over fifteen years on, it's surprising just how cliched it all is. Like Die Hard, we've seen this formula so many times that it becomes very transparent. Still, as far as a first in a series, they don't hold anything back.
A terrific first act with plenty of solid twists and turns throughout.
