Review of Miss Sloane (2016) by Jubie C — 04 Jan 2017
Intelligent movie with one scene very soon after start that had the audience laughing & clapping. Seemed a bit too intelligent for a mass audience appeal, yet is one of the best films I've seen in a long time.
Jessica Chastain absolutely shines as the anti-hero who, in the process of winning, gets her come-uppance on a whole other level. The screenplay or the director seemed to hint at something deeper going on with her character which might have lent more facets to her otherwise sociopathic personality.
Made me want to get to know her. There is something so sad about her. Director was a bit heavy-handed, dressing Chastain in black in almost ALL scenes, but my god, her wardrobe was smashing. Fantastic supporting cast, some recognizable faces, and some I've never seen before, but ALL turned in great performances.
Fantastic movie, gone from the first-run theaters too soon.
