Review of Miss Sloane (2016) by Julie S — 19 May 2017
MISS SLOANE is one of the most amazing movies I've seen in a long time. I'm not surprised that so many people missed the complexity of the title character. They are probably used to only seeing strong women in one light and they weren't paying attention to the brilliant portrayal of Jessica Chastain.
The plot is so good that they missed the fact that this was a character study. BONUS! It's like two movies in one. I was left speculating on what made Elizabeth Chastain tick. It was clear that she had learned long ago that she could only trust herself and her desire to stay isolated and in control was a great key to her past (which is never revealed).
She is a woman of mystery who is brutally honest and willing to pay the price for what she believes. She is cynical and the world usually proves her right. But not always. The twists and turns are stellar.
People who don't like Miss Sloane are people who are unable to see deeper. This was an excellent script and flawlessly done at every level. BRAVO!
