Review of Miss Sadie Thompson (1953) by James G — 11 Jan 2018
Good film for Rita Hayworth fans, as she is particularly good in this film, as the Miss Thompson of the title, and Jose Ferrer is a nasty piece of work as a missionary with a thoroughly Old Testament (not to say mysogynistic) view of good time girls like Sadie, what ethy're worth and what they deserve.
It goes into areas which Hollywood films could not address 'full on' due to the constraints of the code, doubly so in a film so outwardly sunny, but does so sufficiently for the viewer to fully understand.
Interesting film.
