Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Ingela Z — 05 Nov 2008
Not a bad movie, and charming enough. Just a bit on the slow side. Very quiet, almost too quiet, and almost predictable. Borders on humor, but rarely lands the jokes. Attempts to be a commentary of some sort, on the social nature of people, but doesnâ??t quite reach significant conclusions and answers. Almost solves its puzzles too easily, instead of diving deeper into the chaos. Thereâ??s almost the feeling that much of the action happened before we arrived.
In short: enjoyable in moments, but too ambitious to realize its actual potential, to be anything more than a background distraction.
