Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Leisa L — 16 Jul 2009
This was delicious. I want to have a go at playing Miss Pettigrew. Not sure which of my friends wants to play Amy Adams' part.
Costumes and set gorgeous. Frances McDormand and Amy Adams fantastic as usual. Even if one has to suspend belief that in a day the news goes from 'there may be a war any day now' to bombers flying overhead and an air-raid siren, the rest is utterly enjoyable.
It's not going to be up there with great art movies, and probably fits into the middle-aged-female-movie (as against a chick flick) category, but hey, sadly, I'm a middle aged female!
