Review of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008) by Erika K — 05 Nov 2010
France McDormand is just amazing here! No, its not those type of character that will land her an Oscar or other prestigious awards, its those character that is adorable and memorable. Tells the story of a middle age women, Miss Pettigrew who pretends to be the social secretary of the American actress/singer in London. Just for a day she lives the life of a personal secretary, met her man and at the same time figuring out the world of a social climber society.
The movie runs for 90 minutes, it feels short though. Brilliant acting by Frances McDormand as Miss Pettigrew, Amy Adams as the ditsy yet charming Delysia. Lee Pace also stands out here. It's quite a change to see movie like this.
8/10.
