Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Katie F — 04 Apr 2018
I saw the film first, which made me love it. And then I read the books.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great film on its own, but compared to the books it's absolutely sh*te. It's like Tim Burton read the first book and went "Eh, I'll wing it". The characters and plot were completely different and the main action is even set in a different place.
The visuals and effects of the film are stunning, however, and the acting is pretty great, considering the fact that most of the cast is made up of children.n.
I would recommend this film, but I would recommend that you read the books first, so that you can make a fair comparison. I wouldn't worry about spoilers from the books for the film, because they have completely different storylines.
