Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Aubrey S — 08 Oct 2016
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. That is the best way I can describe this film. They took a great book and made it into a movie that lacks all of the charm and wonder of the original story. Asa Butterfield was so bad in this movie, he sounded like an amateur straight out of an acting class at the local community college.
Samuel L. Jackson was randomly thrown in there and was equally terrible, which is unacceptable for Nick Fury. The story has been changed up so much that it is barely recognizable, characters have changed for some reason and one of the biggest moments from the book (resetting the time loop) looks like something you would find in a made for TV Disney movie.
Eva Green and a few of the other peculiars are the only reason I even gave this movie that one star. I was seriously disappointed by this film.
