I loved this movie! I don't know what movie the critics are watching - this is a fun and creative adventure. They are not giving this movie it's due. Go enjoy it!
Having read and enjoyed the books, I was a little uneasy that the film would not live up to my expectations. I could not have been more wrong. Tim Burton's vision (although not always mirroring my imaginings) were wonderful! Eva Green and Samuel Jackson are particularly well cast. The visuals are stunning and the special effects are artfully done. The plot is just right to explain the unique aspects of the peculiar’s amazing world yet to move the story along. I attended the movie with a friends who had not read the books and they loved this movie as well.
The first book in Ransom Riggs’ series sets up the more action-packed second and third novels. The same is true of this movie.
