Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Kav S — 04 Nov 2016
I wanted to like this. I really did. Eva Green is great in the role. Problem is Asa Butterfield is the one who has to carry the film, which leads to many flatly delivered disconnected dialogue. Didn't expect it after Ender's Game, but I guess he's the Kristen Stewart for a new generation. The best part about the monsters in this one is that they're invisible so you don't have to suffer through them for too long. File this under the category of Sam Jackson cash grab roles.
I propose a drinking game to make this film more tolerable. Take a shot every time someone says the word "peculiar" or "peculiarity." I promise you'll be drunk by the end of the first act.
