Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Rob J — 15 Feb 2017
Perhaps this film would have been ok if I hadn't read all three books first. I could almost get over the peculiar ability swapping of Emma and Olive however my disappointment just increased from there.
Unlike the books this movie failed to keep me captivated. The books had left me absorbed and wanting more an ability that the movie just didn't have. It was quite clear that Tim Burton had no intention of making a trilogy from the film which I think personally is a shame. This movie fails to live up to the world Riggs created and my only advice would be to read the books and leave the movie or watch the movie and go home disappointed. But if you do the latter then perhaps take a trip to the library and read the the stories to bring your mojo back.
