Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Hunter B — 29 Apr 2017
An epic book to film failure, and I can't imagine how confused and disappointed those who haven't read the book are.
I understand that several concessions must be made when writing a movie script from a book but, the unfortunate attempt made here goes so drastically far that I am positive Ransom Riggs has seen a drop in book sales.
The worst part is it could have been fantastic. The potential for this film and sequels was immense and utterly destroyed halfway through the first film. The moment the ship was raised I knew something had gone terribly wrong. And, that was the moment the writers chose to begin to wrap up 3 books into half a movie, taking incredible liberties that made me disappointed in both Ransom Riggs and Tim Burton for allowing it to happen.
Why, why, why..... a techno carnival battle???
