Review of Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) by Kenneth S — 23 May 2009
This film is an interesting and ingriguing look at a fascinating individual. Yukio Mishima was a brilliant Japanese playright and author who's quest for blending art and life led to his suicide. This film is brilliantly constructed, incorporating colorful dramatizations of some of Mishima's key works, black-and-white flashbacks, and a suspenseful presentation of the hours leading up to his suicide.
Divided into four segments and pulled along by a brilliant, haunting score by Philip Glass, MISHIMA: A LIFE IN FOUR CHAPTERSis top-notch filmmaking.
