Review of Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) by Brian E — 01 Nov 2009
Probably the oddest movie to come out of Hollywood and Coppola/Lucas, this is the biopic of estranged and brilliant writer Yukio Mishima. Told through four perspectives in four different stories and analyzing the man's final 12 hours all seems like too much, until you see it.
Philip Glass hasn't done much to impress me in the past, but his work here is no impediment and really, I couldn't imagine the film without it. It's nice to know that for a small time in the 1980s, one of the worlds greatest writers was captured faithfully on screen.
