Review of Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) by Irvin C — 24 Jan 2010
A highly stylized and unusual biopic on controversial Japanese author-poet-actor-artist Yukio Mishima that sort of blends his written work, past life, all the way through his "seppuku" using both color and black & white cinematography and theatrical art direction in some scenes.
It doesn't always completely work but it's very fascinating and beautifully designed, shot and acted.
