Review of Misery (1990) by Madison N — 31 Jan 2011
Misery is just one of those films. The kind that you watch and are disturbed even when something rather happy is going on. And thats amazing. Bate's performance leaves you shuddering in a truly genuine manner.
Her every move and word is believeable, to the point you wish it wasn't. She makes you think. "Are people really like this?" The answer is some, though we try our hardest to deny it. No one is perfect, but some are far closer than others.
Bate's chracter expresses the existence of the creepy and strange to us in a multidimensional way that other villains don't. When the credits role, you will not be thinking,"Oh, that bad guy was scary, but that never happens.
..,".
