Review of Mirrors 2 (2010) by Rob P — 13 May 2011
I would say this is a fine direct to DVD sequel to the first film. Mirrors 2 is about a boy name Max who recovers from a traumatic accident takes a job at the Mayflower department store as a night guard but soon he sees visions of a young woman and mysterious deaths start to happen towards the city and in the mayflower department store as well.
I would say this film is much more better than the original film which is a remake of the Korean horror film into the mirror. This film has a closer story to the Korean horror film (which is quite good for a direct to DVD release).
Personally I liked the film and it was way better than the first film which has Kiefer Sutherland and the scary nun was the only thing that gave me scares in the first movie while the rest seriously falls flat because the film is lacking of scares for one reason.
But this film is way better because there are more scares in this film than the first film and the girl in the mirror really freaks me out in some moments when she just appeared instantly. Now the story here is much more darker than the first film and the film is even gorier than the original.
The scene when Ryan Parker gets killed by his reflection was incredibly gory, gross, sadistic and disgusting. The atmosphere in the Mayflower department building was really dark and it looks great for one reason it wasn't atmospheric but it was pretty cool actually.
Since the scares are nice the gore and graphic violence in this film was also good. The acting in the film was quite good as well Nick Stahl did a good job with his acting in this film since he was good with his role as John Connor in Terminator 3 Rise of the Machines and the other actors and actresses were also good with their acting in the film also.
Director Victor Garcia did a good job with his directing in this film. His first movie Return to the house on Haunted Hill was just fine for me but Victor Garcia seriously went to the top with this film and he is seriously learning a lot of things to be a good horror director I can't wait to see what he will do with Hellraiser Revelations which is the ninth Hellraiser film in the Hellraiser saga I hope that when he's finished directing the film and when I watch it I hope it will be just as good as the first movie.
Overall Mirrors 2 gets an 8/10 because the whole movie has a darker story than the original. The atmosphere in the Mayflower department building is incredibly dark. The whole film is gorier than the original and the acting is nice.
Mirrors 2 is one of the better direct to DVD movies since Wrong Turn 2.
