Review of Miracles from Heaven (2016) by Greg B — 08 Apr 2016
"Miracles from Heaven" is a faith-driven movie about a little girl with an incurable gastric condition that is miraculously healed when she falls from a tree in her front yard. The girl named Annabelle had a condition that caused bowel obstruction whenever she ate.
Her intestines wouldn't digest her food. Her mother (Jennifer Garner) takes her to a specialist in Boston. Garner delivers a resonant, powerful performance with conviction and ease. The film is a bit maudlin but really tugs at the heartstrings and delivers an affecting, resonant message about faith and miracles.
Some critics found the message heavy-handed, but I thought the faith elements of the movie were delivered properly without the film being preachy. I applaud the director for this balance. I was moved by this film and I thought Garner really held it together ------------------------------------------- B+.
