Review of Miracle on 34th Street (1994) by Nate W — 23 Dec 2008
It's certainly not the sort of movie that would be watchable at any time other than Christmas, as it is unbearably saccharine at moments and rather typical of family entertainment. Fortunately, if you time it right, this film will put you right in the holiday spirit.
The picture's greatet asset is the ambiguity surrounding Kris Kringle's true identity. Sentimentalists and children are free to say that he IS really Santa Claus, while more jaded viewers can interpret him as merely a kindly old man who convinces everyone to BELIEVE that he is.
