This solid remake of the classic 1947 film, Miracle on 34th Street follows Dorey (Elizabeth Perkins) and her young daughter Susan (Mara Wilson) who do not believe in Santa Claus and have lost the Christmas spirit.
When they encounter Kriss Kringle (Richard Attenborough), he sets about trying to instill the spirit of the season in their hearts. At the same time, Kriss, who has become a Santa Claus for Cole's department store, must defend himself against accusations of insanity, since he claims to be the real Santa Claus.
He gets help on both counts from Bryan Bedford, a lawyer and would-be suitor to Dorey. This is a great, appealing family feature featuring a great performance by Mrs. Doubtfire's Mara Wilson.
