Review of Miracle Mile (1989) by Curt F — 26 Dec 2008
I wasn't expecting this movie to be this good. First I had to de-program my mind and not think of Anthony Edwards as his ER role and Mare Winningham as the girl Rob Lowe sleeps with at the end of St. Elmo's Fire. The music at times sounded like Risky Business because it was done by Tangerine Dream.
After clearing my head of those three things and the 80s hair and clothes this movie was awesome. I truly didn't know what it was about or how it would end which added to the thrill of watching it. You never knew if the whole nuclear thing was real or paranoia until the end and it really kept you mesmerized.
This movie plays on a fear of nuclear war that really has subsided for Americans over the last 20 years since it was made. I guess you could substitute terrorist attacks or suitcase nukes in its place now for the same effect.
I highly recommend this movie with a big thumbs up!
