Review of Miracle Mile (1989) by Lacuna P — 30 Apr 2006
We decided to rent this movie on a lark, a friend recommended it to us with warnings about some of the acting and dialogue. As goofy and unbelievable as it was, the movie was still entertaining. Nostalgic for me, seeing the "Gitano" ad placed on a sun umbrella in a destroyed store window display, oh and the Tangerine Dream soundtrack.
My aunt once got me a pair of Gitano jeans as a kid and I used to think how passe they were and would hardly ever wear them. Guess Jeans and Lawman Jeans were the desired ones of course. It was cool to see Los Angeles as it looked then, seeing Johnnie's, which is now only open for filming.
It looks a little in disrepair these days. As for the movie, it couldn't make up its mind if it was a comedy or a drama. It would have been fine if they played it a little absurd, as it was, but without the grave moments.
Total buzzkill.
