Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Leslie C — 29 Mar 2009

This movie was set in 1944 Italy, the story of four African American soldiers who get trapped in a Tuscan village during WWII.

Now if you believe that is the plot of this movie, you are wrong.

Spike Lee has directed another powerful and complex movie about historical events.

Yes, Mr. Lee did provoke Clint Eastwood and the public but to me that was his tactic to promote this film and to shed truth that there haven't been to many military films about soldiers of color.

It shows division is races, the military, and religion. It also brings up faith. How in the worse situation one must always have faith to a Higher Power.

There are good and evil in all situations but the compassion for one another along with their differences was felt in this film.

I have a better understanding of friendly fire. Who the heck named it that?? There is nothing friendly about it.

It is graffic but what war isn't? The ending some may say was wack but to me it was spiritual, showed humanity, and those who died didn't do so for nothing. Plus not two many people could handle a much longer film.

The cast was at it's best. The movie will make you think and want more information, at least it has for my curious mind..

It touched a nerve to where our history books need to shed the truth instead of fabricated them.

Faith and Hope have no color barrier!
