Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Gerald J — 22 Feb 2009
I love Spike!! I defended him when weak minded racists on the internet accused him of racism because he brought the truth of what happened in World War II. I was utterly amazed at the madness spewing out of their mouthes! A white man accusing a blackman of racism makes as much sense as a wolf accusing a sheep of being a predator!! For sure, it's Spike Lee's take on World War II.
My father served with the 761st Tank Battalion during that war so bravo Spike!! Preachy? I disagree. I guess when you feel guilty you'll accuse the person pointing it out of preachiness and of racism!! My one criticism of Brother Spike is the unecessary use of sex in his films!! Sex is sacred(between a husband and wife), and I believe Spike must curb on the inappropriate display of wanton sexuality in his films! Nonetheless, I recommend this film because it's a long overdue ode to the sacrifices Blackmen and women made during that war!!
