Review of Miracle at St. Anna (2008) by Francis L — 24 Apr 2009
If you find this disjointed, it's because the novel is not constructed with a clear storyline. I think Spike Lee was true to the feel of the story. I enjoyed seeing some details acted out, such as the Italian setting and the head from the bridge and the child and his 'friend.'.
There are some memorable elements in the story. ~ Some minor things annoyed me... why all the long hallways? I didn't care for the music much of the time. The opening & closing scenes were odd.
I also thought the village fight was different from in the book, more dramatic and drawn out here... but maybe I remember that wrong.
I'm always game for a Spike Lee joint, so if you feel the same, see it.
