What could have been an insightful look at a little seen part of history (i.e, the involvement of black servicemen in World War II) turns into an incredibly unfocused, didactic, overlong, ostentatious mess of a movie that fails to connect any of the fair good set pieces into any cohensive and watchable manner.
This film confirms one small thing: Spike Lee is still his own worst enemy...
