Based on the book by Astrid Lindgren, this is a fantastic fantasy movie! The movie is not technically great, but it has a special, magical feeling to it and you just have to love it. I loved this movie as a kid, and when I watched it again as an adult I was not disappointed.
Perhaps it's nostalgia, perhaps it's simply a great story... The kids in this movie (including Christian Bale) all makes great performances. The music is great also, and the flute-melody will guaranteed be stuck in your head for weeks! A perfect family movie, both for adults and children.
The title song, Mio My Mio, is written by the two male members of ABBA.
