Review of Minions (2015) by Dragonsfoe . — 02 May 2016
Just too many minions.
Minions is definitely the worst of the Despicable Me films so far, it presents itself as a cash grab that is geared only towards a very young audience. This is a shame due to the fact that the creators of the franchise are perfectly capable in making films that both older and younger audiences can enjoy.
Everything in minions is only serviceable and does not due anything special when it comes to animated films. But the film does have a few funny moments but none that really stand out, they are all minion jokes that have been seen before. The animation is in very good quality, something that is expected with Illumination Entertainment.
Sadly minions cannot carry their own film, they are great side characters but should not be the focus of a film. With a decent premise this film could have been better than it was, but it relied on a fan add that finds whatever the minions do to be hilarious.
Overall Minions is not a great film that is not very funny either, hopefully in future installments it will be less like this and more like the original.
Rating: 6.4 (C).
