Not everyone's cup of tea, but Mind Game fits effortlessly among the singular works of anime. Disorienting yet inspired and satisfying phantasmagorical psychedelia juxtaposed with some great dramatic development.
The opening encounter with the Yakuza is as tense and infused with personality as any great Tarantino moment. If you're not familiar with Masaaki Yuasa, you ought to check out his animated short Cat Soup first to see if his batshit brand of surrealism is for you.
