Review of Million Dollar Baby (2004) by Shae H — 21 Jun 2011
Plot: Frankie Dunn (Eastwood) is a boxing trainer who shows he is devoted to making his fighters winners, Maggie Fitz Gerald (Swank) notices that he could be the one to make her a winning female boxer, but Frankie declines multiple times to train her.
Review: I found Million Dollar Baby to be a heartfelt, warm, touching movie. This is no female rocky by any means as the trailers my have suggested. This movie is more than that, Clint Eastwood's directing ability and performances from the three main actors make you forget that everybody has heard this story before. The man with a dark past, a woman with a troubled family and life just wanting one dream, a man scarred for life from boxing, all have been done in multiple movies before its time. I would also like to praise Hilary Swank's determination to fit in this role. She worked tireless hours just to fit in the athletic role she auditioned for. I recommend anybody that wants to see boxing, wants to cry, wants to laugh, wants to stand up and cheer, then you should definitely give this movie a look.
