Review of Million Dollar Arm (2014) by Orlando O — 10 Nov 2014
There are many sport drama films that tend to follow the same formula. We are introduced to J.B. Bernstein (Jon Hamm) who is mindset as a business sports agent going to India to recruit two new pitchers as part of "Million Dollar Arm." Then, the two new rookies accompany J.B. as they slowly bond. The movie does have a charming message about try to have fun playing baseball and do not let what business decide how you rank.
The movie is predictable, cliché, and at times fun-seeing J.B. bonding with the two young India's new recruits Rinku (Suraj Sharma) and Dinesh (Madhur Mittal). Jon Hamm gave a fair performance, as well as Suraj Sharma and Madhur Mittal. Suraj Sharma is up and coming, after last seeing him in Life of Pi film.
Million Dollar Arm is a cliché sports drama. At times, the movie can be boring just cause you can easily predict the direction it is going. It has a wonderful casts, and nice friendly message. It is nothing new comparing to other sports films.
