Review of Millennium Actress (2002) by Harpal K — 07 Feb 2008
Surreal and beautiful. This movie moved me as close to tears as any in recent memory. This movie is proof that anime can be true art, not just the trite cliches that most people are aware of. And while it doesn't have the cliches, it's still a movie that could only be an anime.
It tests the limits of its form in spectacular and beautiful ways. One of maybe 3 or so movies that have spiritual significance to me. I really don't think I can recommend this movie enough.
