Milk is a film that everyone should see. The acting is superb and Gus Van Sant's direction is spot on. Sean Penn shows why he is arguably the greatest actor of our generation, his best performance since Mystic River.
There have been few times an actor has been able to make me feel so strongly about their characters, Sean Penn and Josh Brolin achieve that. James Franco as Scott Smith, Harvey Milk's early love interest is a suprsingly great performance.
I may have a bias opinion becuase I support gay rights, but who cares? Anyone who sees this film will be lying if they deny how powerful it is. Milk deserved all Oscars it won, and is a film that will never lose its strength.
