Milk is full of brilliant blends of expert cinematography and stock footage of the '70s. Sean Penn strays from his normal roles with ease to pull off a mesmerizing, charismatic, kind-hearted and inevitably tragic performance as Harvey Milk.
Penn is likable and paints the character as a man who knows the struggles of gays everywhere and can't understand why people won't except them.
