This movie is unbelievably good, the story of Harvey Milk, as told by Gus Van Sant with Sean Penn as Milk. It wasn't Sean Penn portraying Harvey Milk it was Sean Penn as Harvey Milk he totally encompasses the man and what he stood for, haircut and all.

Brolin as White was brilliant also, haircut and all. All the other actors are just all in to provide a truly memorable film. Gus strived for the highest amount of authenticity he could bring to the project, and it shows, as it is also sprinkled with archive footage from the actual events to portray an even clearer picture.

The movie is a real tearjerker as the performances elevate it massively; the story is very involving of the audience who might not even know of him and thus introduces him to a new generation, as the 2 hours fly by, with political and emotional insight of Milk.

The only problem I have with the movie is that they announce the eventual outcome of Harvey Milk in the first 5 minutes, I feel that it is an annoyingly massive spoiler as it wouldn't evoke the same emotion out of the audience if we hadn't have known.
