Review of Milk (2008) by Michaela. — 14 Dec 2008
It's not a perfect film. Still, few movies have left me feeling like I'd been punched in the gut. Even fewer left me believing that one man could change the world for the better. "Milk" did both of those in an inspiring if somewhat safe biopic.
Penn gives another great performance -- you forget you're watching him and not Milk himself. But it's the players on the sidelines -- James Franco as Scott Smith, a heartbreaking Joseph Cross as Dick Pabich and most especially an effervescent Emile Hirsch as Cleve Jones -- that make the movie work.
"Milk" is well-worth your time and money. Take a friend and have a conversation afterward.
