Many people responded to Brokeback Mountain as a somehow mournful but uplifting tragic love story. They were wrong - Brokeback Mountain is a movie that should make you enraged and angry as you watch good people crushed by prejudice and one man's crushing self-doubt.
Milk is by far the better picture, and the more important statement because it's a call to action. So he dies - but he's never a victim. He even documents his own response to a hypothetical assassination.
His name was Harvey Milk and he was here to recruit you, and having seen this film I'm ready to serve.
