Review of Mildred Pierce (1945) by Ben H — 14 Mar 2012
Thoroughly enjoyable noir drama, Curtiz is a master of getting great performances from all his cast, so there are some excellent supporting roles here too, Butterfly McQueen steals every scene. What Curtiz does really well is to add a bit of light humor and irony to Cain's bleak tale, and like Casablanca he makes it a great film.
