Review of Mildred Pierce (1945) by Melody L — 02 Jul 2007
Crawford's heroine Mildred Pierce kicks her husband out, starts her own business, and attempts to provide for her spoiled rotten daughter, Veda. While Crawford was fantastic, I've always thought that Ann Blyth stole the show.
The moment when Mildred steps out of the shadow to discover "what's really been going on" is my favorite because it signifies her imminent freedom.
