Review of Mildred Pierce (1945) by Willard D — 17 Sep 2007
The ultimate melodrama with Crawford at her best. A sharp- tongued Eve Arden as the best pal leavens the drama. They cleaned up the MP character for the movie: she's a lot less principled in the novel.
But everything works here, from the opening gunshots to the final fadeout.
