Review of Mildred Pierce (1945) by K D — 03 Dec 2008
Right from the start of Max Steiner's score for this film I was hooked... because there really isn't a better start to a film then a gunshot and someone falling to the ground. Crawford was perfect for this role.
.. its a role she had mastered through all of her previous rags to riches stories and was most deserving of the Oscar. I could not stand the character of Ann Blyth's, but that only means she played the party extraordinary well.
The plot was full of drama and suspense and the way it was pieced together only made the film more effective.
