My friend Randy told me about this Joan Crawford marathon on TCM yesterday because it was her birthday. One of the movies they play was called; "Mildred Pierce". I really enjoyed this movie for a variety of reasons. One is that it's so darn entertaining. LOL! They don't make movies like that any more. I think Joan won an academy award for best actress for this film but don't quote me. The script and the actors did an amazing job for this film. It all works. "Mildred Pierce" is about a murder investigation. When the murder investigation leads to a high profile woman then the police find out who the culprit is. Through their interview with the woman they find out her life?s story. Her story is that she a single mother whose husband left her for another woman. The woman was forced to take a job as waitress for a restaurant which ultimately leads her to open a chain of restaurants after some very hard work. During all of this she is raising two girls. When one of them dies from ammonia, she spoils the other one which ultimately ends up kicking her in the butt. After having several men come in and out of her life, she is determined to keep the business going. This movie I would suggest to any one. It's not too corny or dramatic. It works all to well. Please see what you think..
